Healing from trauma takes time. Building job skills takes practice. Finding stability takes support. The Brave Way Gives You
All Three For a Full Year.

The Brave Way

The Brave Way is a program for women overcoming trauma, that integrates trauma-informed healing with workforce development and sustained case management.

"This program has taught me that I can make decisions for myself. For so long I wasn’t able to because others told me what I had to do. Now I’m empowered to make decisions that are best for me."

- Nandie

The Journey: Three Pathways Over One Year

Pathway Includes:

  • Weekly Trauma-informed group sessions in a safe, supportive environment
  • Weekly workforce development workshops
  • 1:1 coaching and case management to set goals, address immediate needs, and reduce barriers
  • A financial stipend is provided for attendance and participation to help participant with basic necessities
  • A sense of community
  • A sense of belonging
  • Financial Literacy

The Brave Way is broken into three 4-month pathways. Each one builds on the last, giving you time to grow, heal, and gain the skills and confidence you need for long-term success.

Pathway 1: ETCH Healing Path

4 Months of Stabilization and Rebuilding

This is where healing begins. In ETCH, you will focus on rebuilding confidence and developing tools to regulate emotions and cope with life's challenges.

This phase is about creating a foundation so that everything else can build on solid ground.

What You'll Experience:

  • Art and creative expression projects that help you process emotions and discover strengths
  • Early workforce skill-building to start thinking about what's next

Pathway 2: EMERGE Workforce Development Path

4 Months of Building Job Skills and Confidence

In EMERGE, you'll start building the practical skills employers are looking for: customer service, communication, professionalism, and how to navigate workplace culture.

This path is about learning how to manage stress on the job, advocate for yourself, and show up consistently even when things are hard.

What You'll Experience:

  • Hands-on training in customer service, retail basics (like POS systems and inventory), and workplace expectations
  • Social-emotional skill-building to help you manage stress, communicate professionally, and build relationships at work

Pathway 3: EMBODY Employment + Retention Path

4 Months of Starting Work and Staying Strong

In EMBODY, you'll transition into employment, and we'll still be with you. Starting a new job is exciting, but it can also bring new stresses. You won't have to figure it all out alone. Your case manager will continue working with you one-on-one to support job retention, help you navigate challenges, strengthen your financial stability, and keep you moving toward long-term success.

What You'll Experience:

  • Personalized support as you start working, help with schedules, workplace issues, stress management
  • Financial coaching to manage your paycheck, plan for expenses, and build savings
  • Barrier support for unexpected challenges (transportation issues, emergency expenses, etc.)
  • Continued connection and accountability so you don't face struggles alone

You don’t have to be perfect.
You have to be willing.

What You'll Gain in the Brave Way Program

By the end of The Brave Way, you won't just have a job. You'll have:

  • Increased self-confidence and belief in your ability to achieve your goals

  • Stronger emotional regulation and coping skills to handle stress

  • Practical job skills and professional competencies that employers value

  • A support system that doesn't disappear when you start working

  • Financial tools and habits that help you build stability

  • A sense of hope and a path forward

“I was mad at God because every door closed when I was looking for a job. I felt like no one wanted to give me a chance. Now I’m at my forever job, and I absolutely love it. I learned that when you think God isn’t working, he is, but you just can’t see it.”

- Brandy
